 “Kids Like You, Kids Like Me” School Tours for Students in Grades K Through 5 Available Monday, September 25 Through Friday, October
6, Free to All Schools! The Kids Like You, Kids Like Me School Tour teaches valuable life lessons about diversity, acceptance and respect for people of all abilities through guided exploration. Centered around the theme “A Day in the Life of a Child with a Disability,” the tour features activities that allow students to simulate having a disability in home, school and playground settings. As students enter the exhibit, they are encouraged to select a disability, such as a visual, physical or communication impairment. They then travel throughout the day, simulating what it is like to get up in the morning, get dressed for school, participate in classroom activities, enjoy recess on the playground, and play board games such as Tic Tac Toe, while “wearing” this impairment. In addition to the simulation activities, the School Tour also includes “up close and personal” time with a person with a disability, a special Kids Like You, Kids Like Me interactive skit. The two-hour tour includes an art lesson and take-home favor, while the shorter 90-minute tour excludes the art lesson. School
