Down a River of Fun at
Creative Discovery Museum
See
NEW RiverPlay Exhibit -- Now Open!
This
exhibit is going to blow you away! As you enter RiverPlay,
there’s a huge, two-and-a-half story high climbing structure
to your right with squealing children climbing up and down
a series of nets and ladders, while others are sliding down
a spiral tube between floors. A group of children are high
overhead, working together to crank a fan that makes a series
of tethered kites take flight. Another child has climbed high
into a crow’s nest and is ringing a bell as he raises
a flag repeatedly.
But
you can also hear the din of a waterfall from the far right
corner of the room as it spills into a long, stainless steel
watercourse that flows to the entrance of the exhibit. There’s
another, smaller waterfall across the room that flows into
a small pool surrounded by toddlers and their parents. There
are looks of wonder in their eyes as they splash and play
in the water and hold their hands under the waterfall.
To your
left is the riverboat, humming with a flurry of activity as
kids run up the stairs to get to the pilot’s cabin,
while others are working together to load cargo into deck
netting. Moms and dads are gathered in a galley-like area
underneath the boat, playing with their babies in a cushioned
area designed just for toddlers. Overhead children are scurrying
across a bridge that connects the top floor of the riverboat
to the first floor of the climbing structure.
Children
wearing raingear run past you, flinging drops of water as
they go. Crowds of children are gathered along the watercourse
– some are playing with the lock and dam system, some
are working at the boat launch, and others are playing with
the drawbridge system. Some children are splashing each other
at the dancing water fountain at the end of the watercourse,
while others are working with the bucket tilt near the waterfall
at the far right corner of the exhibit. Bigger kids are firing
water at a whirligig in an attempt to make it spin around
in different directions.
Everyone is having fun, and you can’t wait to join in.
That’s exactly what you’ll be able to do when
you come to Creative Discovery Museum to see “RiverPlay.”
It’s a very special and brand new exhibit for the Museum,
and we want you to join in on the excitement that’s
been building for over two years. Don’t miss it!
