Housekeeping Associate

Part time, 25 to 28 hours per week
Must be able to work Weekends, evenings and holidays

Creative Discovery Museum is looking for a part-time Housekeeping Associate. Duties include general cleaning, grounds keeping, carpet and upholstery care, cleaning of walls, glass, mirrors, acrylic, ceilings and other surfaces, trash removal, and stocking of supplies for the Creative Discovery Museum facilities. 

Qualifications: Basic education and communication skills required. Background check required.

Museum Experience Staff(Level I)

Occupational Summary

Level I Museum Experience Staff are responsible for providing a quality experience for all museum guests by ensuring a safe, fun, and clean environment. This position is expected to be available for work during the museum’s regular hours and evening events.

Daily Responsibilities

  • Assist guests with the interpretation and understanding of exhibits in all core areas
  • Maintain the integrity of the exhibits by ensuring that guest interaction is safe for both the exhibit and the guest.
  • Assist in the cleaning and maintenance of core areas before, during, and after museum hours.
  • Assist in the training of volunteers at the direction of the Volunteer staff.
  • Meet the needs of all guests while maintaining a proactive and fun-loving attitude.
  • Interact with guests by offering walk-ups that include clearly articulated educational content in a positive and fun loving manner

Camp Assistant Responsibilities

  • Aid campers in completion of activities and lessons
  • Supervise campers and Museum Apprentices who are helping with camp
  • Maintain discipline in the absence of the Camp Teacher
  • Ensure the safety and well-being of campers at all times
  • Aid the Camp Teacher in the set-up and take-down of all activities

Birthday, Lock-in, and Highlights Tour Responsibilities

  • Provide an overall quality experience for guests before and during the program
  • Responsible for set-up and clean-up of all programs
  • Perform necessary duties to ensure program runs smoothly at the discretion of the birthday and lock-in lead.
  • Interact and communicate positively with adults and children before and during the program
  • Meet the needs of the children and adults proactively in all programs
  • Other duties as assigned by the Education Staff Manager

Education/Experience Required

  • 1 year life experience or formal education in the Arts, Sciences, Early Childhood, or Education beyond high school
  • Experience working with children aged 2 - 12
  • Experience working in a team

Outreach Educator

Part Time

Creative Discovery Museum offers science, math, and art outreach programs to schools within a 35-mile radius of the Museum. Designed to be a content resource for area teachers as well as fostering a positive attitude toward science, math, and art, each outreach program includes hands-on activities reinforcing the concepts being explored. Outreach programs will be available to students in grades Pre-K through 5th grade and will be approximately one hour in length. The School Outreach Educator will be responsible for teaching these lessons. This position reports to the Outreach Manager.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Presentation of the outreach lessons as written using research-based teaching methodology.
  • Developing a positive rapport with classroom teachers in a way that positively markets the education programs of the museum and models best teaching practices.
  • Organizing, repairing, and replacing materials for the lessons as needed for future use.
  • Performing some clerical tasks including contact with teachers prior to the classroom visit and coordinating distribution of materials
  • Other duties as assigned

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required

  • Demonstrated excellence as a classroom teacher in grades K – 5, specifically in presentation skills, student rapport and adult interaction
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively

Education/Experience Required

  • Degree in Elementary Education or related education field
  • Three years previous experience teaching and managing children in a self-contained classroom setting that required state certification

    • Knowledge of area school districts and teachers
