Art Experiences

The Museum offers a weekend schedule of Art Studio lessons. These lessons are FREE with Museum admission, and seating is available on a first-come, first-served basis. Artist-in-Residence Programs are also offered on a monthly basis. Call the Museum in advance for schedule of weekend events.

Enjoy creative art lessons and Artists-in-Residence Program performers at Creative Discovery Museum. All art lessons and performances are FREE with paid admission to the Museum unless otherwise indicated.

Art Lessons

June
Tropical Paint: Make unique island inspired art using tropical watercolor colors.

July
Mellow Yellow: children will become a minimalist by using only one color to create a piece of art.

August
Oil Pastel Wax Relief drawings: kids will create a scene using this fun technique.

September
Pastel Art: kids will learn the art of the soft portrait while using pastels.

Artists-In-Residence

Culturally Diverse Art! Artist residencies provide great opportunities for children to experience new skills. No registration is required and these activities are FREE with paid admission. Most activities are held in the Museum atrium, unless otherwise noted. Residencies are funded by the Tennessee Arts Commission and Allied Arts. Please note -- all programs are subject to change. This circus-themed marionette show uses puppets that dance, juggle, and swing from a trapeze to help children learn how reading and math skills relate to the art of puppetry.
