Overweight in children is defined as having a Body Mass Index between the 85th and 95th percentile. Obesity in children is defined as having a BMI at the 95th percentile. Overweight and obese children are at greater risk of Type 2 diabetes, high blood pressure, asthma, sleep disorders and other medical issues.
