Overweight in children is defined as having a Body Mass Index between the 85th and 95th percentile. Obesity in children is defined as having a BMI at the 95th percentile. So could a child you know be overweight? Visit the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention website to use the Body Mass Indicators for children aged 2 to 19
Overweight and obese children are at greater risk of Type 2 diabetes, high blood pressure, asthma, sleep disorders and other medical issues. There are also social and emotional  issues associated with overweight and obesity (Source: Mayo Clinic). If a child you know is overweight, please consult a physician for this serious medical condition, which is curable.
