Creative Discovery Museum Celebrates
New Year’s Eve with Plenty of Cheer!

New Year’s at Noon on December 31, 2009

(November 20, 2009)  - No need to fight sleep and stay awake to welcome in the New Year.  On December 31st, children and adults can celebrate the New Year with all the clamor, tradition, and a spectacle of confetti at Creative Discovery Museum.  Recognizing that most young children are asleep by New Year’s Eve and parents are often at other parties, the New Year’s at Noon celebration provides a wonderful opportunity for parents and children to celebrate this special time together.

The celebration will begin at 11 a.m. and continue until 4 p.m. with activities including an apple juice toast, playing Kazoos to the tune of Auld Lang Syne, designing New Years hats, and making shakers, wands, and 2010 glasses.  Featured for a first time, guests will get to have a photograph taken to commemorate the dawning of 2010.  Then, as visitors are asked to gather in Times Square fashion to watch Father Time descend the Museum steps, they will be dowsed by a colorful, grand confetti finale.

“Giving children repeated traditions builds a sense of security and well being, and New Year’s at Noon at Creative Discovery Museum provides a child friendly tradition that also allows children to take part in the passage of time”, states Dr. Jayne Griffin, Director of Education at Creative Discovery Museum.

The Museum will also have the privilege to welcome Saxophobia, a local saxophone band, to join in the festivities.  Their musical talents lend energy and optimism to the New Year’s celebration.  They will accompany Father Time and all the children in a lively parade around the Museum.

Activities are free with admission to the Museum.
