Chattanooga, TN – Creative Discovery Museum is the place in town for children and families to celebrate Independence Day!  Red, White and Blue Days will be held at the Museum July 3-5.  Each day children will make paper flags, show their spirit with red, white, and blue face paints, make wands, shakers and hats at Creation Station, and create masterpieces in chalk on the Museum’s Plaza.  From 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., guests are invited to the Rooftop Fun Factory tent to sample summertime picnic treats.  At 1 p.m., children and guests can join in a one-of-a-kind Patriotic Parade lead by Curious George™!  The highly-anticipated grand finale of bubble wrap “fireworks” in the Museum’s Atrium will set this patriotic celebration apart from all others.

“There is freedom in creativity and what better way for children to understand the joy of freedom, than to express their patriotism through activities that encourage creativity,” states Erica Campbell, Museum Experience Manager.  “Children really show their spirit for the Red, White, and Blue with an energetic parade and the bubble wrap fireworks which ‘explode’ underneath hundreds of little jumping feet.”

From 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. on the Plaza, guests can enjoy summertime fun eating watermelon and running through sprinklers.  Then, at 3 p.m. the whole family can participate in our first-ever watermelon seed spitting contest.  The contest will be divided by two age groups and adults are invited to participate.

MEDIA NOTE: The parade usually begins at 1 p.m. and lasts about 5-10 minutes, with Bubble Wrap Fireworks exploding around 1:05- 1:10 p.m.

Summer Hours, June 20-August 9. The Museum will be open every day (Monday through Sunday) from 9:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Regular hours will resume on Monday, August 10.
