Olympic Games to Be Held at Creative Discovery Museum
(with a few strings attached)

Animalympics Puppet Show
July 17

(June 30, 2010) - - Children will learn important values and character-building lessons as they enthusiastically cheer for kittens, squirrels, and orangutans in Animalympics at Creative Discovery Museum.  Animalympics, a unique marionette puppet show, will be presented by Master Puppeteer Peter Hart in the Museum’s Auditorium on July 17th at 2 p.m.  This show tugs on audiences’ heart strings to combine entertainment, love of animals, and education into one program.

Through the art of puppetry, examples of teamwork, self-determination, good sportsmanship, respect, and positive attitudes are portrayed by animal characters.  Children are encouraged to participate in the hilarious sporting events with special Animalympic cheers and even “squirrelly” calisthenics that delight and keep audiences engaged in learning the lessons presented.

Mr. Hart has achieved world-renowned success through the art of puppetry and is considered among the finest professional puppeteers in the South.  The action packed Animalympics performance was originally developed for Atlanta’s Olympic Village during the 1996 Olympic Games.

“Peter Hart is such a talented and dedicated puppeteer; it’s an honor to have him perform at our Museum,” said Liza Blair, Arts Manager for Creative Discovery Museum.  “Peter’s respect for the art of puppetry is apparent in his work, plus his ability to make what was once stationary come to life with such personality and energy is great fun to watch.”

Admittance to this performance is free with Museum admission.  Funding for this presentation is provided by Allied Arts of Greater Chattanooga and Tennessee Arts Commission.
