A Day of Homespun Fun

Textile Arts Featured at Creative Discovery Museum September 18

(August 23, 2010) - - Local textile artists will be choosing a spectrum of colors, threading needles, counting rows, and revealing how to create fun fabric art at Creative Discovery Museum on September 18 from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m.  Rug hooking, crochet dresses, cross-stitched pillow cases, and decorative table tops are just a few of the hand-made needle crafts to be demonstrated for Museum guests.

“Having an appreciation for items that are hand-crafted is important in developing a deeper understanding and respect for all art forms,” stated Liza Blair, the Museum’s Arts Manager.  “Watching as someone creates something is very powerful, and having artists on-site creating textile art is a great way for kids to see the process behind the art.”

This program is part of Creative Discovery Museum’s Artist in Residency which is funded by Allied Arts of Greater Chattanooga and Tennessee Arts Commission.
