Unique Storytelling Brings New Meaning to Body Language at Creative Discovery Museum
(March 11, 2011) - - A creatively playful combination of storytelling and choreography will be introduced to guests of Creative Discovery Museum on Saturday, May 21. Performers with the acclaimed Pickleshoes troupe will present Adam Battlestein’s Storeography at 2 p.m. in the Museum’s Auditorium. Children will also be invited to participate in a fun, short original performance where they too can become “storeographers”.
In storeography, concepts of storytelling are communicated through movement. Pickleshoes’ performers move over, under, and around each other; balance, propel, and vault with a seven foot pole; narrate and sing from a safe; and entertain from the confines of a common suitcase.
“What a fun experience kids and adults will have watching this performance. Pickleshoes creates an atmosphere of wonder and amazement all through the craft of dance and movement,” states Liza Blair, Creative Discovery Museum’s Arts Manager.
The performance is free with paid admission to the Museum and is made possible in part by Young Audiences of Atlanta. This program is part of Creative Discovery Museum’s ArtsLive!, a year-round program connecting kids with visual and performing artists. Monthly performances and demonstrations by professional artists give children the opportunity to experience art first hand, talk with the artist and even try the art form themselves. ArtsLive! is funded through Allied Arts of Greater Chattanooga and Tennessee Arts Commission.
