Creative Discovery Museum Celebrates Chinese New Year with Lion Dance
WHAT: Media are invited to come to Chinese New Year for a spectacular celebration of color, tradition and dance featuring the Atlanta-based Chien Hong Lion Dance Troupe. The Chien Hong School’s martial arts performing group will present a martial arts demonstration, featuring national and regional competitors and award winners in various martial arts contests. Media are also invited to view the temporary upstairs exhibit, Children of Hangzhou: Connecting with China. In this exciting exhibit, four children from Hangzhou, China are profiled through their daily lives at home, at school, in the library, in the theatre and in the countryside.
WHEN: Special Media Invitation: Saturday, January 21, 2012; Noon to 2 p.m. Children of Hangzhou: Connecting with China exhibit will be featured January 14 – May 13, 2012.

Children of Hangzhou: Connecting with China was created by Boston Children’s Museum (BCM) and is sponsored by State Street and the National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH). Locally the exhibit is sponsored by SunTrust Foundation and is partnering with Baylor School.
WHY: The exhibit and related programs exists to be a bridge to learning about China and serve as a building block to cross-cultural understanding.

Creative Discovery Museum is open Mon-Sat: 10 a.m.-5 p.m., Sun: noon-5 p.m. 321 Chestnut Street, Chattanooga, TN 37402. Creative Discovery Museum is recognized as one of the top children’s museums in the nation. It is a non-profit organization dedicated to educational enrichment for children age’s 4-months to 12-years-old through interactive, hands-on experiences that foster creative and critical thinking.
