Looking for opportunities to extend your child’s homeschool experience? Your search is over! Homeschool is in session at Creative Discovery Museum. We’re trying something different this year. Each month we’ll be offering two hour sessions, two times a month. The sessions will include hands on activities, instructional time in the Museum, and in depth information on each topic. Each workshop will be held from 1 p.m. - 3 p.m. on the 2nd Thursday and repeated on the 4th Tuesday of each month. Since the same workshop topic is presented in each session, you get to choose the day that suits your schedule best.
Each workshop session is available for 5-7 year olds and 8-10 year olds. Cost for members is $12 per lesson or all eight for only $80. Non-members pay only $15 per lesson, or book all eight for $95. The classes on this page take place at our downtown location. We also offer homeschool sessions at our Science Theatre at Northgate Mall.

Classes for this season:
FEBRUARY
Magnificent Magnets
Guiding a magnet through a maze without touching the magnet is only one of the problem-solving activities we will complete as we explore magnetic force and how it works in different forms and with different materials. We will explore different types of magnets and experiment to see if magnets work in water.
MARCH
Rockin’ with Rocks
Dig for fossils, classify different types of rocks and minerals, and learn how they are formed. Discuss what is extinct and not extinct and what is organic and non-organic. We will also be learning about soil and the layers of the earth.
APRIL
Starlight, Starbright, STARLAB!
Become astronomers by climbing into the portable planetarium, STARLAB. We will explore the solar system, constellations, and the individual properties of various stars. We will also view various constellations while hearing Greek myths about them. Creating our own constellations and learning about telescopes will round out this workshop.
MAY
For ages 5 -7: Mesmerizing Masks
Throughout history, every culture has used masks in many ways. We will have a great time exploring how masks portray emotions and using different materials to make our own masks using concepts of symmetry and color. The workshop will end with time to put on a show using masks.
For ages 8 - 10: Farming Fantastic Fuels
What are Biofuels? Where do Biofuels originate? These ideas and more are explored in this exciting lesson about energy needs for transportation and why we should get away from using fossil fuels.
