CREATIVE CAMP-INS
LIGHTS OUT AT THE MUSEUM - Come and discover what happens in the museum after dark! Your group will be locked inside Creative Discovery Museum for a unique after-dark adventure. You'll get the chance to explore exhibits, take part in cool hands-on workshops, participate in team-building activities, visit the gift shop, sleep in the museum and more!
Choose from one of the following fun, hands-on educational workshops:
- Starlight, Starbright, Starlab - Become an astronomer and spend time in our STARLAB planetarium. Explore the solar system, learn stories from ancient cultures that were used to explain what was seen in the sky, and create your own constellation. (Brownie Scouts can earn a Space Explorers Try-It with this workshop, and Junior Girl Scouts can earn a Sky Search badge.)
- Healthy Me, Healthy You - Experiment with the skeletal system and learn more about how the human body works. Use stethoscopes to analyze how the heart beat changes after excercise, examine germs under a special light, and play with the food pyramid to choose a menu for the day. (Brownie Scouts can earn a Healthy Habits Try-It with this workshop, and Junior Girl Scouts can earn a Highway to Health badge.)
- Rockin' with Rocks - Examine fossils and different types of rocks and minerals. Dig in the dirt, build a volcano, and spend time as a paleontologist in Excavation Station.(Junior Girl Scouts can earn a Rocks Rock badge with this workshop.)
- Wacky Weather - Use various weather instruments, learn about the water cycle, examine different types of clouds, and produce fog. (Junior Girl Scouts can earn a Weather Watch badge with this workshop.)
- Science Wonders - Make bubbles, write with invisible ink, go on a magnet hunt, and experiment with static electricity in this all-about-science workshop. (Brownie Scouts can earn a Science Wonders Try-It with this workshop.)
- Museum After Dark! - Experience all the fun of 'Lights out at the Museum' but without the overnight stay. A great experience if you don't want to sleep over.
These programs are suitable for almost anyone! School groups, Youth groups, Church groups, Summer Campers, Boy Scouts, and Girl Scouts - we've entertained and educated them all! The workshops are designed for 1st through 6th graders and content will vary depending on the age range of your group. We are also happy to work with you to tailor a workshop to suit your group needs.
