STEAM Club for Homeschool

Supplement your homeschool curriculum with hands-on, interactive STEAM experiences you can't find anywhere else! Register your child for CDM's STEAM Club for Homeschool! STEAM Club meets Tuesdays from 1-3 p.m. and is designed specifically for 1st through 8th graders. Lessons change monthly and provide experiences that make science, technology, engineering, art and math come alive for kids.

All sessions run from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. on Tuesdays.

Water Filters
Jan. 5, 12, 19, 26
Students will investigate the effectiveness of different types of materials to filter and clean dirty water. They will design, construct and test their water filters to apply what they have learned.

Cleaning Oil Spills
Feb. 2, 9, 18, 23
Students will learn about ecosystems and food webs that are affected by an oil spill. They will learn to test water quality and also test the oil absorbing properties of different materials that can be used to clean up an oil spill.

Invasive Species
March 2, 9, 16, 23
Invasive species can be devastating to native flora and fauna. Students will learn about the problems associated with invasive species in the United States, as well as cane toads in Australia. Students will also design and test a humane trap to catch and remove cane toads.

Bubble Wands
April 6, 13, 20, 27
Bubbles are more than just for fun! There is a lot of science involved in making bubbles. Students will explore the different materials that are used to make bubble wands. In addition, they will design and create their own bubble wands and utilize them to solve bubble challenges.
