Tara's Story

Meet Tara. She is a Family Forward intern and mother to a 19-year-old college student and a 4-year-old daughter. Tara has a background in case management and psychology. But life circumstances got in the way of her success, and Family Forward has been able to help her get back on her feet. Through her internship with CDM, she believes she is getting a foot in the door to connect back to the community. She is thrilled that her work here has allowed her to make connections with families. Her passion is to help serve families holistically and to advocate for the needs of children. After her internship, Tara hopes to make a difference by working in mental health advocacy or homelessness. Her ultimate dream is to open a family shelter.

This internship has helped Tara get her voice back after many years of personal challenges and has made her a stronger advocate for herself and her children.

CDM’s impact goes well beyond the young children we serve every day. Help us support women like Tara by providing a gift to our Annual Fund. The annual fund plays a critical role in covering the gap between our annual expenses and the revenues we receive from admissions, memberships, and program fees.

Your contribution will not only support exhibits and programs that inspire lifelong learning in children, but also provide interns with opportunities toward a meaningful career.

The impact you can make today helps build brighter tomorrows!
