Sustainable solutions: bioenery and bioproducts

Finding renewable, sustainable sources of energy is critically important to our nation's future. Through three hands-on activities, students explore how scientists are using plants, microbes, DNA/genetic research, and specialized processing techniques to produce specialized fuels and recyclable products. Free lessons are made possible by the Center for Bioenergy Innovation.

Creative Discovery Museum's alternative energy lesson comes straight to your classroom in real time and offers your students the opportunity to interact with our instructor as they complete lab activities that cover concepts related to biofuels. Students will explore ocean acidification, cell walls, the carbon cycle, photosynthesis, non-food fuel crops, and other concepts related to the production of sustainable sources of ethanol.
