COVID-19 has forced us all to change our norms. Simply put, we are all doing life and business differently. I hope that as your daily life is changing, there is both hope and joy in your new routines.

My family is experiencing just that. This past week, all the couples in my family played a version of the Newlywed Game via Zoom. We all live in different states and are at different stages in our lives, but we set aside several hours to come together to laugh, spread joy and eat chocolate chip cookies – something we would have never thought to do before COVID-19 changed our norms.

At Creative Discovery Museum we are also doing things we never considered before. Much has changed. Our doors are closed, and our exhibit halls are empty, but we continue to be a resource for children and families in our community. Staff is hard at work (while social distancing and working remotely) to produce valuable content and activities that benefit children and families.

We launched Creativity TV which brings CDM’s Story Time,  science lessons  and  demonstrations,  art activities,  Culinary Corner kitchen lessons and so much more right to your home. We will post several videos every week to our social media channels and YouTube page to supplement online course work and at home activities. We’ve partnered with local media outlets to showcase our activities which will expand our reach even more. Our  Distance  Learning lessons continue to be accessed across the country. And our education experts are participating in webinars and media interviews to provide parents with the tools they need to cope with educating their children at home.

In addition, we've been working alongside other organizations in the community to compile and up-to-date list of resources. And, perhaps most importantly, we are preparing for the day when we can open our doors once more. We are working on plans and strategies to ensure when we are back, we are stronger than ever.

Creative Discovery Museum is a non-profit organization, however, only a third of our revenue comes from donations and contributions. We rely heavily on admission revenue and program fees. Closing the Museum is having a significant impact on our ability to achieve our mission and support our community.

As one of our closest supporters, we are asking you to please continue supporting the Museum by making a one-time or recurring donation to our Mission Critical Fund. Any gift, large or small, will have a huge impact and will help us continue serving as a resource during the Museum closure. To donate, please visit cdmfun.org/make-a-donation. The new stimulus bill includes charitable giving incentives that apply to all taxpayers.

We are grateful to you and look forward to welcoming you back to Creative Discovery Museum very soon.

With gratitude,

Henry Schulson
Executive Director
