Q. What sparked your love for the STEM field?
I became interested in STEM when I was very young. Being involved in the Girl Scouts allowed me to explore different aspects of STEM while having fun. That structure and support system helped me to find my passion, which is to make the world a better place. During high school, I realized that STEM could allow me to do so- through education and scientific research.

Q. Did you go to college? If so, where and what did you study?
I went to the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga to study environmental science.

Q. What is your favorite subject in STEM?
My favorite subject in the STEM field has always been science! I love the way science allows me to understand the world around us.

Q. Was there someone in your life that encouraged you to pursue a STEM related career?
My parents were especially supportive and encouraging when I was thinking about going to college for a STEM subject. They never pushed me to do anything- they allowed me the space I needed to figure out my path. They still support and encourage me to this day, which is so invaluable and important to me.

What would you say to other girls or parents of girls who are interested in STEM fields?
Don’t be afraid of it! My parents were not from a STEM background so at first they didn’t know how to support me. However, they learned and supported me in any way I needed when I was growing up.

Q. What do you love about your job the most?
I love when kids ask me questions! I love inspiring curiosity and creativity through my job.

Q. Anything else you would like to share about your experience in a STEM field?
To all girls who enjoy the STEM field- just remember that you can do anything!
