Little Explorers is a 4-week program that takes place on Tuesdays from 9:30-11:30 a.m. Monthly topics are based on themes that fascinate 3- and 4-year-olds. Children will enjoy exploring these topics as they engage in science experiments, art activities, problem solving and Museum exploration while socializing with same-age peers. Each session is designed to be developmentally appropriate and encourage curiosity through hands-on learning.
This program will return to the Museum this year in the new Little Explorers Classroom!
Please note that children must be potty-trained to participate in Little Explorers.
Registration will open for Session 2 on February 28.
In February, Little Explorers will be engineers! We will explore building structures, making boats, creating bridges, and testing aircraft. Join us as we work together to build tall towers, predict things that will sink or float, make our own structures in art, test how high things fly in the wind tunnel, and more!
Little Explorers will explore topics related to Spring in session 2. We will play with things related to wind and rain, learn about plants (pretend and real), make and find rainbows, and experiment with shadows and reflections.
Session 3 will have Little Explorers thinking like scientists! We will learn about bones, x-rays, and health as we pretend being doctors. As engineers, we will learn about robotics and how things move. We will also learn about making observations with tools like tape measures and binoculars and perform a variety of experiments. Finally, we will discover outer space as we learn about rockets, planets, and being an astronaut!
This session is full of fun with animals and creatures! Join us as we learn about pets, explore worms and bugs, discover ocean creatures, and play like dinosaurs. We will have fun creating and exploring different characteristics and habitats of these creatures together.
Let's get excited about Fall! We will begin by having fun with ramps, including rolling apples and other fall items that might roll. We will also explore music, pretending to be marching bands and learning more about how sound works. Observations and experiments with leaves and pumpkins round out our fall fun!
For the last session of the year, Little Explorers will get ready for winter. As the days get darker earlier, we will explore lights and colors (and how they mix)! We will also have fun with magnets and learn about polar animals. Finally we will explore the textures, smells, science, math, and art of gingerbread men and houses!
Looking for an exciting to way to spend winter break? CDM is offering an engaging and flexible winter camp that will be fun for everyone!
Innovation Clubs are CDM's newest opportunity for kids to explore fun and engaging topics with their peers while enjoying the museum!
