CDM Announces Capital Campaign Gift from TVA and BVI

Creative Discovery Museum is proud to announce a recent $500,000 capital campaign gift from TVA and BVI to support the renovation of the Tennessee RiverPlay exhibit. Each organization contributed $250,000 to the Ignite Discovery campaign, the ongoing capital campaign for the Museum’s comprehensive renovation.

CDM Receives $1 Million for Natural Science Gallery Renovation

Creative Discovery Museum’s (CDM) Ignite Discovery: Creating the new CDM capital campaign has been awarded $750,000 in funding from the Care Foundation of America and $250,000 from the Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS). The grants will fund UnEarthed, an indoor/outdoor natural science gallery for children and families and complementary educational programming. Construction is tentatively set to begin in the fall of 2022.

Creative Discovery Museum’s popular exhibit, RiverPlay, will be closed beginning Sept. 21 for renovations funded by the Ignite Discovery capital campaign project. The exhibit is set to reopen Dec. 2021 as TN RiverPlay refreshed and ready to explore.

Creative Discovery Museum (CDM) is expanding its sustainability efforts with a new educational exhibit, Solar @ CDM, accompanied by a new 41.9 kilowatt(kW) solar panel system to its existing 10kW system. The project is the first of many sustainable living and alternative energy exhibits that will be created as a part of CDM’s renovation funded by the Ignite Discovery capital campaign.

Creative Discovery Museum Launches National Competition for New Plaza Art Piece

CDM is launching a national competition to create an interactive art piece that will be the centerpiece of a redesigned entrance and plaza. In the first phase of the competition, CDM is seeking qualifications from artists and artist led teams to develop proposals to create a work that reflects the Museum’s playful spirit and welcomes visitors to the museum. Proposals are due April 12, 2021 by 1 p.m.
